New Texts in Manuscripts of the 1636 Ruthenian Translation of the Czech Lucidarius (*Olomouc, 1622)

The article focuses on the textual criticism of Ruthenian translation Czech book entitled Lucidář (Lucidarius), a medieval encyclopedic treatise consisting student’s questions and teacher’s answers, which was most widespread in Cyrillic manuscript tradition Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (the Grand Duchy Lithuania Kingdom Poland). This made 1636 from non-extant edition (*Olomouc, 1622) is represented by at least nine copies: five them have been published other four still remain practically unknown (kept St. Petersburg Yaroslavl). All are involved this study aiming to identify cases complete substitution original (translated) texts answers some with new texts. They reflect critical approach copyists ideas about world set forth Lucidarius translated Czech. process replacing went on, increasing extend, during 18th–early 19th centuries affected more than half all manuscripts under consideration. Consequently, be characterized as an open tradition, since its content partially (but regularly) adapted scribes meet their own cultural needs.
